As a result of the coaching I have created a solid plan for where I want to be and what I want to achieve in the next 12 months. Feeling fulfilled is important to motivation, productivity and job satisfaction. And yet, many of us spend more time planning our next vacation than we do thinking about our future at work. The idea that you should take ownership for your own professional development has been around for some time. But employees can’t do it alone. They need the tools to own their career. And they need support from their manager and the organisation. The Career Development Coaching Programme will provide employees with the opportunity to focus on their career goals and the steps to achieve them.

What is the Career Development Coaching Programme?
The Career Development Coaching Programme is a programme of confidential, bespoke, one to one sessions with a professional career development coach.
What are the benefits?
The Career Development Coaching Programme will help employees:
- Gain clarity on what they do and don’t want to change in their current role
- Develop greater insight into their strengths and the strategies that have helped them make progress in their career to date
- Remind them of all the resources available to them to make progress
- Think through what success looks like for them
- Be creative about the possible development options available
- Adopt a practical approach to development planning
- Identify specific actions they can take to move forward
Who is it best for?
How does it work?
Launch Meeting
The programme starts with an introductory Launch Meeting. The purpose of the Launch Meeting is to introduce the employee(s) to their coach(es) and the AO approach to career development.
Introductory Chemistry Sessions
The employee’s first meeting with their coach will be a Chemistry Session which lasts 45 minutes. This is their opportunity to get to know their coach and to talk through their situation with them.
One to One Coaching
The coaching programme consisting of three phases. The purpose is to help employees take ownership of their career development. Each phase consists of a coaching session with preparatory work, activities and assignments.
Phase 1: Learn from the past
In this phase, employees will reflect on their experience to date. This will help them answer the questions ‘who am I?’ and ‘what do I want?’ By developing their self-awareness and self-insight they will be better prepared to determine what’s important to them in their career and how they wish to develop.
Phase 2: Dream About the Future
As a result of Phase 1, the employee will have increased clarity and confidence. They will then be in the best possible frame of mind to develop a clearer vision of future success.
Phase 3: Take Action
This phase will help the employee create achievable goals and actions for the next stage of their development.
